  • Ah, Shag carpet's! What memories. We had two early 1960's chevy stationwaggons. The first was white with an inline 6 cylinder with a 2 speed hydramatic transmission. The second was an inline 6 cylinder with a 3 speed hydramatic transmission. I remember we were in the mountains on a trip to Wisconsin from Miami Florida and going up hill, my father had it floored only doing 15mph with a semi truck behind us blowing his horn because we were slowing him down. I remember wanting to sit in the back seat which face backwards and no seatbelts. When I was bored i got up on my knee's and turned around to look forward. My mother would always say, since I wanted to sit in the back to sit down and look backwards. What memories.

  • Yes! The 70s were the BEST time to be a kid. And I have those Click-Clacks NOW! I used to be an after school teacher and I took those in to school, and my kids couldn't believe it!

  • I dont like the overuse of terms like "boomer", "hipsters" and other such age-related divisive terms. I think the act stands up well enough on its own without them, and it would make him more relatable on stage if you didn't feel like he already hated you because of how old you are. Because the idea of making jokes out of some of the craziness of the 70s and 80s is excellent and I think there's a lot of good material here. I just dont know whether I'm supposed to be laughing or getting offended and its purely because of those terms that dont need to be there 😕

    • I hate being called boomer with disgust just because I was born the last year of that label. Young people on internet make nasty jabs ending with boomer. Makes me think they are stupid, I don't label them with a generation name just their behaviour

    • I think “millennial” is the word I hate hearing. Not used here, but still overused and somewhat divisive

  • I actually bought a purple click-clack earlier this year at a Mexican swap meet, to replace my original red one. What about Super Elastic Bubble Plastic? I bet that stuff was highly toxic. I remember our station wagon, with that fake wood paneling 😩

  • I remember the shag carpet rake. As soon as I saw one I thought it was a screwy idea.

    • @Heather Miller This was about 1965 when I was in middle school.

      Robert SchwartzRobert Schwartz16 ngày trước
    • Lol I thought he was joking, like how some comedians exaggerate for effect. I guess the rake thing exists after all. I had thick carpeting in my old house but it probably wouldn’t be considered shag, since it was just 1-2 inches high. We only had to vacuum ours, I can’t imagine having to rake it

  • Awwwww the memories of a happier time. Clackers and jumping beans were my favorites and yes my parents bought me a pet rock instead of the pet dog I wanted instead. They told me to see how I do taking care of the pet rock, then maybe I’d get a puppy later on. Really? The criteria of owning and taking care of a live breathing animal depended on if I could take care of the “PET” rock. With my kids, well I started them out with a fish lol.

    Lesa U.Lesa U.16 ngày trước
    • I remember my pet rock, the box and straw it came with. I have no idea what happened to it. LOL Luckily I was better at caring for the live pets.

    • We had a wet bar with that orange-brown-gold shag carpet covering the outside. Classy AF.

      Melissa BlackwoodMelissa Blackwood15 ngày trước
    • There were wide toothed rug rakes for those stupid shag carpets. You could leave footprints in the carpet or wheel trails dragging a vacuum thru the carpet. All a no-no so you had to rake yourself out of the room before company got there.
