  • The “Americans are lazy” narrative is a myth. This is the most overworked nation in the world. Most millennials work 40 to 60 hours a week and are still paycheck to paycheck.

    • Its really not though... its exaggerated for sure but I know plenty of people who are over worked and plenty who are very comfortable figuring out ways to live off the government and other people, what I think we are lacking are people with a healthy work- life balance. (In a world where that can support a family lol)

  • I've never managed to understand how a country built by immigrants and that promotes itself as the best country and the land of opportunity suddenly has an issue with people who want to emigrate there. Is it okay for people already in the US because it was their ancestors doing it, not them? Please don't give me the illegal immigrant speech. I had a student visa and there were places (especially immigration) where I was treated like crap. Best and most polite immigration officer I've ever had? France.

André Corazza MiguensAndré Corazza Miguens16 ngày trước
    • I mean the whole "illegal immigrant speech" IS why they have a problem with it. Governments allowed/pushed the narrative of illegal or lazy immigrants are taking jobs away from Americans, or dangerous terrorists crossing the border and branded all immigrants with those labels. Upset, lower class Americans buy the narrative and find it easier to hate a dangerous foreign enemy rather than the home grown systems that are actually causing their problems cause "we can't be the problem". And the people in power make so much money exploiting the lower class that none of them want to make any changes.

  • That's the thing: Just like most people, I joined the military for college, which I completed. I have been overseas in the military career along for 2 years and I have no problem going back because I got treated wayyyyyy better than the way I am getting treated here in the US. Money was better, treatment was better, sleeping quarters wasn't bad either, food was hit or miss but much can be said about McDonald's lol And before people think I'm being anti-american, I'm not. I'm just tired of the military personnel being treated like cattle over here, but my experiences overseas have been very well, even though I was in combat zones for 2 years. It's really sad. Even though I'm a veteran and I'm still in the US, I would still like to see the current military members get treated better than what I was treated. I'm not cold hearted....just fed up with the lack of respect.

    Jay Boogie79Jay Boogie7916 ngày trước
    • @sweetnawesome23 he doesnt demand respect but basic human courtesy. There is a major issue in some parts of the US where vets are homeless, given horrid health care and being attacked by people in the community who sees all soldiers as mindless murderers. Those who risked their life to protect the country shouldnt be among the homeless at all. Nor should that person get the worst health care, the VA is not up to standards there have been vets who died in VA offices, that is not okay. Also people dont understand that in war there will be casulities its either having to take the enemies life now or have them win and take the fight to US soil. They are fighting so another 9/11 doesnt happen and they dont enjoy it and they only do whats necessary. Im sorry but I have vets in my family who have faced horrible VA health care, who have been yelled at for being a soldier and who needed family help to get a home or else be homeless and still isnt being provided the best care possible but should because he was in wars. Our once priased protectors are now treated like animals in part of the US and its a major problem and nothing to do with perspective Dont even get me started on mental health care for them... Sorry for the rant im just surrounded by vets from both sides of my family and my in laws so ive the good but ive also seen the ugly and the ugly has grown over time and is be coming very problematic

    • Two very intriguing perspectives here. We all have different personalities and perspectives. So if I was to go into the military I would take the good parts of both of yalls points, and! Thank yall for your service. God bless yall

      Ethan ScottEthan Scott16 ngày trước
    • Perhaps you need to look at it a different way. As a soldier (I use the term generally) you are expected to serve and protect your country, whether anyone respects or acknowledges you or not. You should feel a sense of honor and duty, rather than demand respect. When you stand proud as a soldier, you will automatically gain respect, rather than expecting it just because you're a soldier. If you served well, in a just and civilizesd manner, then all respect to you. But if you abused your position and hurt innocents, then shame on you, you don't even deserve the air you breathe, let alone respect. Again, this is a general statement, not aimed at you personally.
