  • I remember when we were younger and me and a bunch of other kids were waiting at a bus stop and throwing snow balls at each other and my little brother got hit in the face and lost a tooth cause one kid had a chunk of ice in his snow ball. It's not that they think throwing snow is dangerous. Its that they cant know what kids to trust that are throwing them. Some kids are just straight up bullies and will cause physical harm to other children because of whatever untamed issues theyr having internally. Iv seen kids full on pelt other children right in the face with obvious intent and causs serious harm to them and them they try playing the whole I didnt mean to but you cant tell that's a lie and they meant to, all the way. It really comes down to the parents and guess what. If theres anyone you cant trust it's usually other adults. So it all rolls down hill to if we cant trust the parents and therefore their children then we just negate the entire option of the game.

    mikeala leemikeala lee8 ngày trước
    • @stealthpanther I completely agree. It's not helpful to outright rid ourselves of lives joy because of a few peoples mistakes or bad attitudes. The best we can hope for is a more legal agenda, that parents MUST attend classes to learn about proper parenting. We should keep a better eye on our friends and peers, and be willing to say hey, I dont want to sound forthcoming, but you need to work to better solve the problems in your family for the health of your child and their relationships with others. There are many, MANY other options to actively pursue. If we can better educate parents then in turn children wouldnt suffer as many internal issues, as they would have the ability to learn and transition through different things. It would take alot of people working hard together to make something like this happen and most people today cant be bothered to care for anyone but themselves thus why it's become what it has. I think that any parent has the right to call out another parent for poor behavior or even the right to say hey something is egging on your kid in a bad way, let's do something about it I'll help you. Your not wrong to feel that way about how things are. You break your phone you dont just throw it away you try to fix it first. Why should it be any different with a child or a family? Doesnt everyone deserve to feel happy and able to have healthy relationships? It's a very big picture and it will take alot of time to figure out exactly what paints need to be used.

      mikeala leemikeala lee6 ngày trước
    • But by that logic, we will be restricting or outright eliminating so much. Yes, there are always going to be bullies, bad people, little turds, idiodic adults, etc. But eliminating things is not how you change those behaviors or outcomes. What do we ban next? Tetherball so you can't smack it so hard your opponent has no chance of intercepting it without hurting themselves? Tag so a kid doesn't full on barrel into their friend in order to catch them? Swings so a kid can't be pushed too high? Sandboxes so no one gets sand in their face? All balls for sports, so no one gets hit?

  • I have seen real snow once, in 1983... I think. 1980-something. Had a friend with a fishing boat and a friend across the street with a truck. So we divided and had 2 "forts" and had an epic snowball battle before it melted. It was amazing. My brother and I kept 1 snowball and 1 icicle in the freezer for the next few years till my mother had enough. I was born in Panama and was MEDEVACed to Texas in the 70s, so snow has been non-existent for me pretty much my whole life. Screw Meredith. I'd do it now in my 50s if snow wasn't a unicorn.

    Mark PMark P8 ngày trước
    • Infection rates are so high because hundreds of thousands of people with little to no symptoms are freaking out and getting tested for a virus that hasn’t been isolated with a test that isn’t designed to diagnose any disease and getting a ton of false positives because hospitals are getting a ton of money for every test they give and a ton more for every positive test result. Turn off your tv. Don’t freak out if you sneeze. Move on with your life. Let everyone else move on with theirs.

If a customer wants me to call out "Handsome" when his order's ready, I'll gladly do it. My favorite thing about being a waiter was that, for an hour out of someone's often miserable day, I got to bring them the good life. The best days were when I turned someone's day around and/or gave them a night they'll NEVER forget.

    • @Buck Fuddy LOL I do remember that... We used cake pans though... My mom would not let me touch her bread pans... They were from her Great Aunt from like 1897 or something... But yes I remember ! You would get snow balls stocked up and into little piles and do barrages... and then it was CHARGE! Did you ever roll up a HUGE ball of snow!? I am talking like 5 diameter... I just thought of that... 🤣

      Mark HendrixMark Hendrix6 ngày trước
    • @Mark Hendrix did u ever make snow bricks outta bread pans?? Me and (same kid) made this huge wall once.. we both had 3 pans and built this wall as tall as us.. then we drew our line a few feet in front and waited with our “ice balls” .. there was always one that would get mad cuz he couldn’t “sit in our fort”..but hey, he wasn’t on our team🤷🏻‍♀️

      Buck FuddyBuck Fuddy6 ngày trước
    • @Mark Hendrix I think it’s sad that kids don’t get to really do that anymore.. I remember that day as one of the first “snow days” I ever got to have.. (I must’ve been i kindergarten cuz I remember is having to hang out all day cuz my mom was watching us til his mom got home then I was at his house).. with online school happening, “no more snow days”!! Then again, kids these days don’t know anything about “playing outside”!! Especially in the snow without a parent up your 🍑!! 🤣🤣🤣

    • @Buck Fuddy What a Awesome memory ! Thank you for sharing that with me Buck... 😉 I can picture you in that sled smiling and thrilling... And then... The snowball... IT REALLY WAS ! LOL I sure love some good nostalgia... 📽

      Mark HendrixMark Hendrix6 ngày trước
    • @Mark Hendrix I used to play with this neighbor boy and we would always sled ride from the top of my driveway the whole way down thru his yard and onto the street below.. one time on my way down, he chucked me on the head with a snowball.. when I got to the bottom, I picked up my sled (was of those plastic blue rectangle things and just swung it at em and it clipped his nose and it started bleeding.. he ran up cryin to his mom and me,and the rest of the kids just loaded up our snowball fort for “war”🤷🏻‍♀️ (Oh yeah, and I’m a girl😁 Edit-that same kid actually moved to the house right next to his childhood home, his father still lives in, and my parents still live in same place as well.. wow u just hit me with some nostalgia!! 🤗

      RauschiRauschi8 ngày trước
    • Real football is American football. You have "soccer", "futball", or "pathetic and boring". And you can't even call soccer football if you want to be anal about the actions of the game complying with the name, because even in soccer certain players use their hands and everyone can use other parts of their bodies besides feet, hands, and arms. If you demand to call American football "hand egg", then your beloved soccer is called "Everything but hands and arms unless you are a goalie, feet ball."

      Remy LebeauRemy Lebeau9 ngày trước
    • @Ray K HOLD IT, young man! Walter Camp essentially altered rugby rules at Yale *_in 1880_* to start becoming "gridiron football" or American football. Whereas "Handball was adapted in the British Isles during the 16th century and called 'fives' (q.v.). The immediate forerunner of the modern game was developed in Ireland, *_where handball was played about 1,000 years ago."_* As Bill Burr would say, *"DOMINOES!"* Besides that, handball is actually played by hitting the ball with your hands, & that's all...Okay. Some really-old-styles use their fist, but honestly, i've never seen how they could bear that. *_AND_* what i *just* learned is that there is another game called "handball" -- actually "field handball" -- that is (as the name states) a field sport w/ seven-member teams! I've only ever played handball in the handball courts. I did not know such a thing as the field sport existed & my first thought when i saw 7-member team was "How the Hell do you get *FOURTEEN* people in a handball court & still have room to play?" Turns out you have to differentiate "Gaelic" or "American" Handball as opposed to "field" Handball, which is an Olympic sport. (I learned all kinds of stuff tonight! So thanks for that!)

    • @Nonnye n/a Only invented because the name wasn't taken yet

    • NO. *_Handball_* is played with a hard round ball that is about the right size for an adult eyesocket & (lightly) padded gloves. American football i think may be more of a ?wussified rugby.
